The Indian railways are the backbone of this country and as anyone (and that's pretty much everyone) who has waited on a platform knows, the speaker system generally isn't very good. None the less, we have still become accustomed to hearing the voice of an automated female announcer give us valuable information on our train's delay arrival and departure.

And now, one Indian blogger - a self-confessed train travel lover - has taken his fascination with the pre-recorded female voice further by recording and giving them out as ringtone downloads. He says the ringtones are for those who "like the sounds of the railway station" to bring "the feel of the railway station to your mobile phone".

We're not going to recommend them simply because, just like the real thing, the clarity isn't very good. But it's still better than some of the annoying ringtones we've heard people use these days. So if you love your varying-range female voices, download away here.
