Who says the judicial system in India is flawed? In fact, it is so robust that we treat animals in the same vein as human beings when it comes to crime and punishment.

For the first time in the judicial history of our country, an FIR was filed by the Kerala State police recently against an elephant.

The elephant had trampled a man to death on the outskirts of the city of Vadakkavalur following which his wife, Rangammal lodged a complaint against the elephant at the local police station.

The police therefore registered her complaint and filed the first-of-its-kind FIR. Now we wonder if the elephant will get a fair trial if and when he is apprehended.

We wonder who will represent the animal in court... animal rights activists or do elepants have lawyers? Whatever the outcome, the plaintiff better be prepared -- an elephant never forgets!
