Innovations for the betterment of mankind has always been at the forefront of those looking to improve the world. The desire to earn a quick buck can also be a great motivator! Like elephant dung being christened as the poor man's mosquito repellent.

Munia Devi and her elephant Bholua from Bihar (where else!) stumbled upon the fact that burning elephant dung gives out a pungent smoke which keeps mosquitoes away. And now they are making a killing (metaphorically and literally in case of mosquitoes, of course) selling elephant dung to farmers in neatly packed dung balls.

The plot's simple, go to the haathi bazaar section of the local cattle fair, collect the dung, dry it and sell it. Sold anywhere between Rs 2 to Rs 4 per ball, the farmers love it as they are no side effects and Devi has no complaints either as she takes home almost Rs. 100 at the end of the day.

Ingenious we say... well, not so much the invention but the improvisation for sure. If you can make a mini fortune selling elephant poop to people, you have got to be be a great salesman. Anyone know what the product is called? Great balls of fire?
