An Indonesian man has been officially measured after claims that he could be the world's lankiest, some believing him to be a whopping 8ft 10in.

Brilliantly named Suparwono (pictured) underwent the measuring tape at the Indonesian Museum of Records. The big fellow had a record of 8ft 1in (held by Sultan Kosen from Turkey) to beat.

A recent hospital measurement had the big fellow at almost 8ft 9in, sturring rumour that the record was about to be smashed.

After measuring Suparwono in both a lying and a standing position, the museum found that the 25-year-old was... wait for it... drum roll... 7ft 11in – two inches shorter than Kosen. Titchy!

The world's tallest ever man, the American Robert Wadlow, died in 1940 measuring over 8ft 11in.
