We all remember the episode of Star Trek when the crew got trapped in the holodeck, and the Red Dwarf episode where Lister and the gang discover they've been playing a virtual reality game for four years.Whether Google's latest "20% project" is more like the holodeck or Red Dwarf's virtual reality set-up, is up to you. The cunning devils have strung up 8 long-screen, and hooked it up to Google Street View to create a fully immersive 360 degree experience.
Though now officially christened Liquid Galaxy the idea of the project is "more like a ride than a computer program, something between an observation-deck and a glass-walled spaceship.
"As a result of this totally seamless, immersive experience, we decided to name it the Liquid Galaxy," said Google.
